I attended a primary viewing party at ITPT’s one-time senior political analyst Paul Stekler’s house last night. I was the first one there, as I was quite nervous and decided to show up 15 minutes early so as not to miss anything. I poured myself a glass of wine, and immediately switched the channel from MSNBC to CNN. (I mean, come on Paul. Who has the Best Political Team On Television?)

Suffice it to say, as others arrived, it became quite clear that I was one of the only Hillary supporters in the room. I could tell because I was the only one sporting a flag lapel pin. When they called Pennsylvania for Hillary, I sent out an urgent text message from my Blackberry with two words: F*uck Yeah. (I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to my in-laws. I had no idea you were in my contact list.)

Since I found myself in the minority, I decided to be MUCH LOUDER and more obnoxious than usual. Every time Hillary’s lead widened, I would jump up and scream, “TEN POINT SPREAD! TEN POINT SPREAD!”

I refused to relinquish the remote control for fear that Stekler would force me to watch Chris Matthews again. During Hillary’s victory speech, I kept yelling for people to shut up. During Obama’s speech, I flipped over to “Law & Order: SVU.”

Speaking of Obama’s speech, sponsored by Abercrombie & Fitch, what was with the three dudes directly behind him, dressed in Abercrombie & Fitch t-shirts? What did Abercrombie & Fitch have to pay for that kind of placement? Every time the camera panned over them, I yelled out, “FITCHY! THE FITCHSTER! THE FITCHMEISTER!”

At one point, Stekler actually said, “Are you still here?”

55-45? Hell yeah, I’m still here. And so is she.

Note: Some media outlets this morning are claiming that the final count was not quite 10 points, more like 9.5. From what I can see, the majority still have it as 10. So, let me save you the trouble of whining in the comments that it was slightly less than 10. Either way, still a huge win.

We’re taking this to the convention, baby!

The calendar is so screwy. I mean, seriously — isn’t it insane how much when primaries elect people has affected this primary?

Obama won Iowa — he’s legit!
Clinton wins NH — comeback kid!
Obama wins SC, Clinton wins NV — race matters!
Clinton wins CA, NY…while Obama wins 13 Super Tuesday states — OMG, I don’t know who’s winning!
Obama wins 12 straight — he’s unstoppable!
Clinton wins OH, “wins” TX — can’t knock her out!
Obama wins MS, WY — he can’t be stopped!

…..6 weeks of nothing…..

Clinton wins PA — its never gonna end!

I mean, seriously — imagine if the calendar was a little different. Imagine if MI and FL hadn’t broken the rules and went on Feb. 5, and maybe 3 or 4 of the smaller states Obama won on that day weren’t until late May. This would be over, right?

Conversely, imagine if TX and OH went on Feb. 5 — Obama would have won 15 straight primaries, and she would have gone 2 months without a win. It would have ended, right?

Something to think about for Dems as they go forward and try to choose how to set a calendar for 2012. Pick the calendar, pick the winner, it seems like….

Congrats, PL!

After her text last night, which was sent when there was a mere 8 pt spread, here’s how it went:

DMW/P: Ahem. 8 pts?
PL: Eat it.
DMW/P: Stop drinking now. You’re getting belligerent
PL: I AM NOT.
DMW/P: Nice try.

I fell like I should report, so the other Obama supporters can take up the slack, that I’ll be out of town for a couple of days with questionable access to the internet. Sorry to leave at such a crucial time. You KNOW she’s going to be just a tad insufferable. (You know you love me, PL.)

Hey, Pink Lady. I support you all the way. Keep solidarity with the 50/50 crowd. That’s women over 50 making less than 50. God love ‘em. And Barack does need to address their issues more effectively. Yes, I still support Obama and I hope he doesn’t go negative, but instead practices his mantra of bringing people together by effectively addressing the issues important to the 50/50 crowd.

BTW, I’m taking a vacation from MSNBC. They are a bunch of pus*sies. They’re letting Pat Buchanan run all over them today. Fu*ck them. I think I’m taking a vacation from all the pundits, except this blog and Texas Monthly, for a few days.

Gotta go give Obama another $50 online.

the A&F shit really bugged me. Buying verpriced crap that is only advertising for the makers is stupid enough ( has Tommy Hilfigure ever made anything that resembled style?), but the Obama people need to keep the BS ad crap out of the background.

A&F…nekkid catalogs…another Obama non issue scandal in the making……

Anyone here remember when they were known for high-end camping, fishing, and hunting gear? I must have missed the memo that they were changing over to pricey t-shirts.

I spent last night at a primary party in Scranton, Pennsylvania, hosted by Jim and Pam. Dwight even made an appearance and I was shocked to learn that, not only is he a Democrat, he is the new Mark Penn. Awesome.

Despite the cameras following my every move, I still managed to have a great time watching HRC take down a big win in PA and finally capture the Democratic nomination.

This has been such a long road, I’m just exhausted and I’m so glad we don’t have to watch this thing play out through the Convention in August.

Thank God it’s over. HRC is our new president and she will be cloaked in A&F t-shirts and jeans for the next 8 years.

OK, so, yeah, I had some fucked up dreams *last night. Apparently taking a shot of absinthe every time a pundit says “Let me finish” will make you dream strange things… And, apparently, it will also make your eyes bleed, but I digress.

NICE WIN, HRC! ¡¡¡Adelante!!!

Re: 9. Goldeneye

Sure it is. You couldn’t ask for this kind of free advertising. The race is putting Dems back on the map. Everyone’s coming out to the polls. The candidates are going through the ringer.

Just because we don’t all agree doesn’t make it bad for the party.

How, exactly, is Group Think good for the party? I say fight on through Denver and then let’s elect Obama.

Wait you missed all the hot-girl ads on TV and in Rolling Stone, wearing the faded-out T-shirts with the letters missing and the $120 blue jeans with the holes in the knees????

I’m impressed. I’d love to know how you managed that.

Re: 19. Credentials

I was semi-aware of all that, I just missed the swap-over. I have a teen-aged daughter, so I know the financial pain, suffering, and sacrifice wrought by fashion and designer britches. This comes on the heels of a wife with a taste for things Dooney, Brighton, etc. It could be worse, we could still be in Dallas where snooty fashion is more prevalent. The irony is that, before marriage, I could actually afford Orvis fly rods and Baretta shotguns, but chose not to buy….

Sweet. You’ve got 4 full months to get ready for dove season. With a college education to fund I’m looking to get at least 4 more years out of my 1100. However, I do get occasional access to a Benelli Black Eagle auto 12. Quality does make a difference.
