Today is my first day at Texas Monthly, where I’ll be working as the editor for texasmonthly.com. Some people have asked me whether the irreverent tone and adolescent humor of In the Pink Texas will be affected in any way by my new job at texasmonthly.com. Will it become a mere extension of texasmonthly.com? Will I be shamelessly promoting texasmonthly.com all over this blog?
No. God no. ITPT will remain its own entity, with hardly a mention of texasmonthly.com. I intend to keep the two separate (the two being ITPT and texasmonthly.com). Church and state. There will be no cross-pollination with texasmonthly.com, and absolutely no conflict of interest. (By the way, have you read BurkaBlog lately? Go check it out!!)
One of my responsibilities is to bring new readers to the site, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be pushing you all to read Evan Smith’s blog. (You should totally post some comments!)
So fear not. “In the Pink Texas” will soldier on as “In the Pink Texas Monthly Super Lawyers Special Advertising Section.” I will be purchasing banner ads as soon as I can find a buyer who doesn’t mind my insatiable appetite for caramel-covered Bolshevik hammer- and-sickle adorned orphan babies.
The trackback URL is here.
Where are you working again?
Quick questions how do you spell f*uck at texasmonthly.com?
(sorry, sophomoric gratuitous foul language - but always necessary in blog)
8:16 a.m. eh? Evan and Mike have you come to work early?

the hammer and sickle orphans are the best…
Congratulations on the new gig. That’s one small step for a woman, one giant journalistic leap sideways.
sell out.
/i’ll be the kettle.
I think you are going to do very well and I have new found respect for the folks at TM for bringing you in. Great magazine, now with a chance to be a great online publication.

If anyone can make this happen, you can. Today Texas Monthly joins the conversation as opposed to just talking to us.

Kettle, indeed!

Priority #1: More stories about male sweat.

I kind of figured the question would be whether or not you’d be promoting ITPT all over texasmonthly.com (which you ought to).
Re: 11. amberbama
That can be tracked. It would be interesting to know if TM sent more views to ITPT or vice versa. Or would the most frequent search to bring visitors to ITPT be recipes for Russian orphans? Maybe by next month it will be Russian orphans needing plastic surgery and legal representation.

…and who suffer from RLS or canine depression. Big Pharma can help.
I’ve been over there 3 times today, and I still can’t find EileenBlog.

By the way, this might be too much honesty:
Podcast:
Requiem for a Heavyweight
Listen to Paul Burka read his column.
I half expect to see:
Blogs:
Burkablog
Read the notes Paul Burka will use to
write his column.
Re: 9. Bodhisattva
i know who you are.
I think full coverage of the Warner for Senate race should be a top priority…for TM and ITPT.

Congratulations on working at TexasMonthly.com. I am glad that ITPT will continue as its own entity and not a promotional site for TexasMonthly.com.
Way to go.
