Well, tonight will be my second time inside the Capitol this session; the first was during the Speaker’s race, and I have stayed away in silent protest ever since. However, the Social Media Club of Austin is sponsoring a panel at 6:30 consisting of “political pros,” “social media experts,” and “Eileen Smith.”
The panelists will be discussing political trends and the impact on the presidential campaigns. I will be nodding and ducking questions while sipping chardonnay water out of my plastic cup. I’m understandably upset that Paul Burka will not be on this panel, since we’ve participated on the same panels twice now. We can practically finish each other’s sentences.
I just discovered that Rep. Patrick Rose and his staff are responsible for reserving space for us. I’d like Mr. Rose to know that I didn’t mean anything when I said what I said about the size of a person’s gun. The event will be held in E2.002, which I assume is some sort of custodial closet. I won’t blame you if you don’t show up. How can this possibly compete with happy hour?
