OK, enough about Texas and racial epithets and a stoned-out publication like High Times. What’s the latest on my home state?
Looks like the George Allen campaign is no longer trying to quell rumors/facts of their candidiate’s affinity for the n-word and doe heads and edible turtles, and is instead accusing Democratic challenger James Webb of being a racist too. According to the statement released, Allen said that Webb “hates black people almost as much as I do.”
Allen’s presidential hopes may be dashed, but he could still pull off the Senate race. This is Virginia and Webb is a lackluster candidate. But you know it’s looking bad for Allen when even the Sons of Confederate Veterans have called for an apology.
“He’s apologizing to others, certainly he should apologize to us as well,” said B. Frank Earnest, the Virginia commander of the confederate group, as well as a frank and earnest man. “We’re all aware, ourselves included, of the statements that got him into this. The infamous macaca statement. He’s using our flag to wipe the muck from his shoes that he’s now stepped in.”
This despite the fact that as governor, Allen designated April as Confederate History Month (replete with a whimsical ‘Master and Slave’ holiday), displayed the confederate battle flag at his home, and proudly sported the flag pin.
Said a former SCV commander, “The denunciation of the flag to score political points is anathema to our organization. The flag should only be used as a bumper sticker, right next to Calvin pissing on Ford.”

What’s wrong with the Old South ball at my college (courtesy: KA) where the frat boys dressed up in confederate uniforms and the girls dressed up in hoop skirts? Pure. Southern. Pride.

I went to some festival in Tyler (Roses, Azaleas..whatever) where the girls were all dressed up in hoop skirts in the Southern tradition. A couple of the girls were black. It was, er, interesting. NTTAWWT
