How much longer do I have to read articles about blogs where the reporter writes, “Web logs, known as blogs…” Are there really people out there who don’t know what a blog is yet? I mean, besides my dad? He still thinks I work at a newspaper. And of course, so as not to shame the family, I let him.

According to a survey released yesterday by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, most bloggers are young twentysomethings, which means that, all things considered, Paul Burka equals about three bloggers. Around 12 million people write blogs, mostly about Texas politics, Andy Brown, lactating superheroes and the constitutionality of lapdancing.

More than half of all bloggers live in the burbs. With their parents. Some have separate phone lines. Most have at least one butterfly chair. All have curfews. Believe me, it’s for the best.

“The average blogger is a 14-year-old girl writing about her cat,” said Alexander Halavais, an interactive communications professor at Quinnipiac University. “Either that, or it’s an aging thirtysomething, pinot-drinking, bad-dancing, Warner-loving, state-rep-stalking, knobby-kneed woman desperately trying to cling to her youth in a thinly veiled attempt to prove to her ex-boyfriends that she really was ‘the one that got away.’ Pathetic.”

Most blogs contain photos and text although some are adding audio and video. I thought about putting up a 24-7 webcam in my home, but how fun could it be watching someone do crossword puzzles in front of C-SPAN?

Burka is three bloggers in terms of age. But if we’re going by weight, Dude is like 3.5.

Truth.

How do you think I feel? Apparently I’m a 14-year-old girl and I’ve got a cat!

I would stick around to comment, but some show called Dateline wants to interview me about your blog. Some guy named Hansen?

The chick in the picture looks older than 14 — maybe 16 or 17.

Poor PL! The rest of the people in the room are standing SO far away…as if they are scared of what is going to happen next.

I used to be a great dancer in high school cheerleading routines. No one could move to ‘Tricky’ like I could.

Re: 12. Pink Lady

Today’s PL doing her “Tricky” routine from 16 years ago. Now that’s a reason to add video to a blog.
