Texas Congressman Ron Paul is one of those rare Republicans who has resisted the mindthink of the House leadership. And by ‘mindthink,’ I mean ‘circle jerk.’ And by ‘circle jerk,’ I mean everyone swallows what Majority Leader John Boehner gives them.

/what’d she say?

Despite the fact that Paul seems to hate the federal government - he’d like to abolish the Department of Education, the CIA, the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Congress - he has earned the nickname ‘Dr. No’ for voting against initiatives that would expand the overreaching role of government. He voted against the Iraq war and against the federal ban on same-sex marriage. He’s weary of anything that interferes with the free market, as well as anything that he sees as an unconstitutional use of taxpayer money, which is to say, everything.

In 1988, the maverick Congressman left the Republican party to run for president on the Libertarian ticket. He also pushed to change his name on the ballot to ‘Grandma.’ In his former life, Ron Paul was an OB/GYN and delivered something like 4,000 babies. He should’ve been at Smooch’s baby shower on Saturday. Three girls (including Smooch) were pregnant with twins. I think there were only like four of us drinking.

Who’s the lush in the back?

Congressman Paul represents Texas’ 14th District, which encompasses the northern Gulf Coast, including Galveston and Victoria. Finally, an opportunity for me to post some of my Galveston photos from my family vacation.

Democrats have put up a candidate against Paul named Shane Sklar. With a name like that (and jeans like that), he should be dancing at La Bare.

Ron Paul. He’s quirky all right, but consistent in his Libertarianess (?). I’d vote for Sklar.

Why don’t you hate black female homosexual flag-burners?

Did all the preggies with twins drink from the same well water? Maybe we should bring in the TCEQ and the RR Commission to investigate! It is a right-wing conspiracy to increase the birth-rate of white people.

Sklar is a true cowboy. I watched him grow up showing cattle and being involved in ag youth programs. His family has been in the district forever. He’s definitely a step up from Ron Paul. Even if he is a male dancer.

Are those Vilma Luna’s kids working on their new home? Isn’t that a violation of child labor laws? For shame.

Is it possible that he is the hottest State Rep Candidate? Could we see a contest, perhaps pitting him against Patrick Rose, Scott Hochberg or Hubert Vo?
