Kinky Friedman and Carole Keeton Strayhorn are collecting signatures faster than that damn ‘Clean Water Action’ volunteer who stops by my house at least twice a day. NO I DON’T WANT TO CONTRIBUTE. I LIKE DIRTY WATER.
Last night, as I was switching channels between KXAN and TNT, I saw that the Kinky campaign was partying at Star Bar. And you thought only thirtysomething losers trying to pick up cosmetically enhanced honeys went there. That place was overtaken by college kids (minus the Burnt Orange Crew) sporting ‘Why Not Kinky’ t-shirts. Then, as the clock struck midnight (the only time Independents are allowed on the Capitol grounds), 200 or so Kinky folks headed over to the Capitol wearing ‘casual dress.’ Oh, R.G., you’re too kind. Just say it. They were wearing shabby chic minus the chic.
Strayhorn and Friedman need to collect 45,540 signatures to get on the ballot. This isn’t as easy as it sounds. They need to be VALID signatures (there goes half of the supporters) and they have to be registered voters (and the other half).
Plus they have to have voted for Nader.
