Sen. John Cornyn (the least popular Senator in the country) has endorsed Gov. Rick Perry, surprising ABSOLUTELY NO ONE.

In the same press release, Cornyn also confirmed that he’s “a conservative,” and that a lot of people “don’t like me.”

Perfect. This endorsement is coming from the man who opposed gay marriage because “if we let THAT happen, than sooner or later people will marry their goats..”

Hmmmm. Cornyn’s 2002 campaign consultant, John Colynadro, has since been indicted on money laundering charges in the TRMPAC scandal. Colyandro is also working for Perry’s gay marriage amendment project this November, according to news reports last week. So in addition to bad ethics, good hair, and the fact that a lot of people don’t like them, it would seem Perry and Cornyn also have in common their open minded attitudes about employing indicted campaign finance violators.

An indictment is not a conviction, but it should also be pointed out there’s no love lost between Grandma and Mr. Colyandro.

Girrrllll….you’ve got to upgrade the quality of your commenters. Cornyn never made the remark posted by Yellow Rose. And John Colyandro had nothing whatsoever to do with Cornyn’s 2002 campaign. I don’t know about any love being lost between OTG and Mr. Colyandro…that one could be right.

actually, i believe she said cornyn’s campaign consultant was John ColyNADro, the indicted one’s slightly dyslexic twin brother.

Colyandro was Strayhorn’s chief of staff when she was still Rylander. And, I believe that Cornyn said something along the lines of marrying a “box turtle,” not a “goat.”

John Cornyn is almost as big a shame and disgrace to the great state of Texas as that carpet bagging yankee, George W Bush

Nice try, Pink Lady, but Cornyn never said anything about box turtles, either. A member of his staff wrote a box turtle reference, and Cornyn immediately deep-sixed it when he saw the draft. The staff draft leaked. If that’s all you’ve got on him, it’s pretty thin gruel.

This is boring. Perry will stomp McWhat’s Her Name. Friedman, Bell…give me a break. Back to issues.

It’s always cool to pin things on your staff. In fact, I don’t write any of the garbage you see on this blog. It’s my @#* intern.

Those wacky Republican staffers! When not stealing confidential memos or urging the exploitation of pvs patients, they still find the time to insert zany passages into speeches to embarrass their bosses!

“I don’t know if there is a cause-and-effect connection but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country. Certainly nothing new, but we seem to have run through a spate of courthouse violence recently that’s been on the news and I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters on some occasions where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in - engage in violence. Certainly without any justification but a concern that I have that I wanted to share. [Senate Floor, 4/4/05]”

They TOTALLY got Cornyn on this one. All he could do was look up in the gallery and go ‘You guys!’

Goat, turtle, chupacabra, pick whatever animal you want, but he made reference to a person marrying an animal within a year ago, Bucky. Anything else?

Yellow Rose: if Cornyn uttered any reference to a person marrying an animal, please post the citation. If you’re successful in locating and posting it, I will donate $100 to your favorite candidate. Here’s a clue: he never did so, but waste a few hours trying to find it anyway.
Pink Lady: Many political mistakes are blamed on staff error. But sometimes the fault lies with — staff error. I know the truth doesn’t control In The Pink — the blog is too well written to be entirely truthful — but it ought to count for something.

“Too well written to be entirely truthful” — I think I’ve found my new tagline!

Begs the question. Why does a former Texas Supreme Court justice and AG need a staff member to (help?) write a speech on a constitutional issue?

Yellow Rose: Anybody who relies upon Andrew Sullivan for news is in bad shape indeed.
But did you miss this tag line from Andrew?
Update: As noted in comments, Cornyn did not use the “box turtle” line in his speech, although it was in the prepared remarks.
This appears to verify my point that a staffer wrote the remark and Cornyn never uttered it. Tell me if I’m wrong, Yellow, and this time, spare us the foul language.

In the time we’ve been talking about this, John Cornyn has killed 12 box turtles with his BARE HANDS.

If you think you are so above blog writers, than spare us of your company, Bucky. It isn’t wise to write that Pink Lady AND her readers don’t know what we are talking about. To add to your distaste of “bad, inefficient” media, the first place I heard of Cornyn’s reference to humans marrying animals was IN THE FT.WORTH STAR TELEGRAM! Their archives suck though. So from now, either be cool or stay off the blogs. And, you can also take these comments and ram them up your a** too.

Yellow: I will take your last post as tacit admission you cannot find any reference to Cornyn saying what you said he said. Your overwhelming graciousness is greatly appreciated. Point, set and match to Buck Smith. See you around the campus.

Okay Bucky. Let me tell you something about the political system. If your staff said it, you might as well have said it. Thus, you have to be very careful about who you choose to join your team. I imagine you are um, 19, 20..UT student? You have a long, education journey to begin. However, I admire your tenacity although you should stick with your peers.

Rosie and Durbin apologize on the same day! A landmark date in history. But the back-and-forth is all in good spirits, and you owe no apology, Yellow. Just avoiding inviting me off the In The Pink island…..I get a major kick out of this website!
